Cervical Cancer Awareness Week 2012

This year Cervical Cancer Awareness week has been running from 23rd to 27th January.

With more than 2,800 women being diagnosed every year with Cervical Cancer and approximately 1,000 women dying from the disease it has become the second most common cancer in women under 35.

With these facts in mind it is more important than ever that all women between the ages of 25 and 64 are encouraged to have regular smear tests[1].

Two of our favourite charities, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and The Eve Appeal, are campaigning hard this month to raise awareness of this disease and to encourage women to attend their smear test, no matter how embarrassing it might seem!

Here at ReplenMD we know more than most how daunting it can be for women who are menopausal, post-menopausal or suffering from dryness to attend a test that can be uncomfortable or even painful. While the nurse or doctor conducting your smear will normally use a lubricant to ensure as little discomfort as possible during the test, many of our customers have told us that using ReplensMD can also help to make the test more comfortable. (The only constraint is that you should temporarily stop using ReplensMD three days before the test; this will ensure the smear does not pick up gel residue.)

The Eve Appeal website has a particularly useful factsheet on smear tests that answers a lot of common concerns. Take a look here: Eve Appeal Fact Sheet .

Both charities are supporting a superb cause and here at ReplensMD we will certainly be supporting them in any way that we can. Xx
